Three Earn All-ACC Honors on First Day of ACC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Louisville track & field teams began their weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships in Boston with three athletes earning All-ACC distinction on Thursday.
Cade DeWitt and Ty McPhail led the way for the Cardinals, taking home two of the top four spots in the men's pole vault to pick up 13 points in the team standings and propel the Louisville men to a sixth-place standing after the first day of competition.
DeWitt, the three-time ACC Freshman of the Week, finished as the runner-up in his first taste of ACC action, posting a final clearance of 5.27m (17-3.5) to earn first team All-ACC honors, while McPhail earned fourth place in the event, clearing a bar of 5.17m (16-11.5).
The Cardinals also saw another freshman make their mark on Thursday as Lucy Fellows placed sixth in the women's pentathlon to claim second team All-ACC laurels. The Twickenham, England native accrued 3,829 points over the five-event competition, setting four new personal-best marks on her way to the third-highest point total in school history.
Noah Koch rounded out the point scorers in the men's weight throw with a toss of 20.11m (65-11.75), and Ian Kibiwot did the same in the men's 5000m after finishing in a time of 13:55.84.
In the only preliminary action of the day, the Cards saw Kiyah Yeast advance to Saturday's women's 200m finals after clocking a time of 23.67, the sixth-fastest time in the prelims.
Paul Kallenberg began his weekend in the men's heptathlon on Thursday, ending the first four events of the competition with a total of 3,186 points, the second-highest point total among the event's competitors.
Friday's action will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the continuation of the men's heptathlon with the 60m hurdles. Competition will be streamed live on ACCNX beginning at 12:00 p.m.
