
Layla Roebke Places 17th for All-ACC Honors at ACC Cross Country Championships

The Louisville women placed 10th in the team standings for their best finish at the conference championships since 2017.
CARY, N.C. – Layla Roebke earned All-ACC distinction with a 17th-place individual finish as the University of Louisville cross country teams began their postseason at the ACC Cross Country Championships.
The senior posted a 6K time of 20:06.3 to become the first Louisville woman to garner All-ACC honors on the cross country course since Ivine Chemutai finished 13th at the 2019 ACC Championships.
In the team standings, the Louisville women finished 10th with a total of 202 points, good for their best finish as a team since the 2017 season, after being picked to finish 14th in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Rylee Penn and Nancy Chepleting were the next two Cardinals through the line, as Penn placed 24th in 20:15.0 and Chepleting made her postseason debut with a time of 20:15.1 to finish 25th.
Lucinda Rourke crossed the line in 20:53.7 for a 66th-place finish and Lexie Paszkiewicz rounded out the top five scorers, placing 70th in 20:56.1.
On the men's side, Geoffrey Kirwa led the way for the Cardinals, covering the 8K course in 23:19.0 to place 39th overall.
Gustav Bendsen finished 91st individually with a time of 24:07.0, while Innocent Ntwali placed 100th in 24:13.6.
Spenser Wolf fought to a time of 24:26.7 to place 114th, and Ethan Meyer was the fifth man through, placing 123rd in 24:40.7 as the men's team placed 15th in the team race.
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships, which will take place on Nov. 15 in Rock Hill, S.C. while serving as the qualifying meet for the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
