LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team secured a 4-2 victory over Lipscomb on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Louisville (5-3-3) snapped a five-match winless streak with the victory. The four goals were a season-high for the Cardinals and the most since tallying four in the win over Dayton in the 2023 NCAA Tournament first round.
Lipscomb (3-4-4) scored the opening goal of the match, striking in the 22nd minute to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals answered back quickly though, leveling the match on a set piece in the 31st minute. A foul near the sideline deep in the attacking end, set up the scoring chance.
Leon Kondic played the free kick into the center of the box and Josh Jones headed it home for his third tally of the season.
The Bisons grabbed the lead back in the 38th minute, but Louisville had another answer right before the half.
Kondic sent a corner kick in from the right side that found the head of Chase Vazquez, who sent it further left and Parker Forbes tucked away the header for his first goal of the year. Kondic was the first Cardinal to record multiple assists in a match this season.
In the second half, it was a pair of Louisville goals that proved to be the difference.
Michael Lee notched his first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute off a centering pass from Elijah Brijbasi. Vazquez then did the same in the 83rd minute, converting on a pass from Ethan Subachan to put the game away.
Louisville finished the night with 17 shots, its highest total in six matches.
The Cardinals return to conference play on Friday night with a match against reigning national champion Clemson. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and will be televised on ACC Network.
