Luper and Cabello Earn ACC Volleyball Weekly Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville senior outside hitter Charitie Luper has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Louisville setter Nayelis Cabello was tabbed the ACC Freshman of the Week.
Luper hit .384 over the weekend to help Louisville to a sweep of Clemson and No. 19 Georgia Tech. She had 27 kills on the week and has 151 kills on the season. Luper also helped tremendously on the defensive side, adding 19 digs and six total blocks to lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 week.
For the second time this season, Nayelis Cabello has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week. Cabello logged 37 assists this weekend as the Cardinals swept Clemson before taking down No. 19 Georgia Tech in the only ranked matchup up of the week. Cabello also added nine digs and two service aces to the Cardinals' 2-0 week and has 247 assists on the year.
Six teams are ranked inside the latest AVCA/TARFLEX Coaches Poll, headlined by No. 1 Pitt, No. 4 Louisville and No. 5 Stanford in the top five. The six teams are second most of any conference this week. Conference play continues this week with a ranked matchup between No. 1 Pitt and No.15 SMU on Wednesday, October 9, while the rest of the conference begins the weekend on Friday, October 11.
