
Roebke Leads Women’s Cross Country at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals

The senior finished 44th overall in a loaded field with a 6K time of 20:11.3.
MADISON, Wis. – The University of Louisville women's cross country team competed in the A race at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Saturday morning, getting a glimpse of the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, the site of next month's NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Layla Roebke was the low stick for the Cardinals, placing 45th overall while covering the 6K course in 20:11.3.
Rylee Penn finished 124th as the second woman through the line for Louisville in 20:47.8, while Nancy Chepleting followed close behind in 20:51.0 to place 130th.
Maddie Seaby clocked a time of 20:58.2 for 142nd place, and freshman Julia Schmitt rounded out the top five with a 150th-place finish in 21:00.2.
The women's squad accumulated a total of 583 points to place 26th in the team standings among a loaded field that featured 19 teams currently ranked in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
The Cardinals will return to the course in two weeks for the ACC Cross Country Championships, which are slated to take place on Nov. 1 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
