Cards Travel for ITA Kickoff Weekend

Men’s Tennis heads to No. 2 South Carolina for two matches
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville continues its stint of road tennis as it heads to Columbia, S.C., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend. A team win out of the four-team site would advance the Cardinals to the ITA Indoor Championships. The teams are seeded as follows: No. 2 South Carolina, UofL, LSU and Clemson.
Louisville (3-0) will first take on LSU, no earlier than 1 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The winner will advance to the play the winner of South Carolina vs. Clemson at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. The consolation match is at 10 a.m. the same day.
The Cardinals earned their first road win of the season on Sunday with a 4-3 decision over Northwestern.
Freshman Miguel Avendaño was named ACC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week after going 4-0 over the course of three matches, being a part of clinching the doubles point in each of those matches.

Scouting the Tigers: LSU has not dropped a set yet in 2024, sweeping both Louisiana Lafayette and New Orleans 7-0 in matches on Wednesday. The Tigers have Chen Dong and Julien Penzlin, the No. 49-ranked duo in the latest ITA doubles poll. LSU finished the 2023 season at No. 39 and has yet to be ranked this year.

Scouting the Tigers: ACC foe Clemson has started the year a perfect 2-0 with victories over Brown (6-1) and Citadel (7-0). Clemson finished the 2023 season ranked No. 68 as a team and have the No. 84 singles in Noa Vukadin. He teams up with Maxwell Smith to form the No. 30 doubles duo.
