Cardinals Set to Tangle with Kentucky Tuesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team returns home for an in-state showdown against Kentucky on Tuesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium and will be televised on ACC Network.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville turned in a 2-0 victory at UNC Greensboro on Friday to remain perfect on the young season. Gage Guerra and Quinton Elliot scored early in the first and second half, respectively.
Alex Svetanoff and the Cardinals made it three consecutive shutouts with the clean sheet at UNC Greensboro. Svetanoff made five saves on the night to extend Louisville's scoreless streak to 270 minutes.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville trails the all-time series against Kentucky 15-18-5 in a series that goes back to 1979, but the Cardinals are 8-15-5 against the Wildcats since UK became a varsity program in 1991. The Cardinals have lost the last two meetings by a 3-1 margin.
GUERRA TALLIES TWICE, NAMED TO TEAM OF THE WEEK
Junior forward Gage Guerra struck for the opening goal against Bellarmine and UNC Greensboro, earning him College Soccer News Team of the Week honors.
The reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year has acclimated himself nicely into Louisville's offensive attack, scoring two of Louisville's six goals through three matches.
Guerra has tallied 17 collegiate goals in 36 career matches.
CARDINALS EXTEND SHUTOUT STREAK TO THREE
The 2023 season has gotten off to a strong start for Louisville, which has recorded three consecutive clean sheets to begin the year.
Louisville blanked No. 16 Tulsa in a 1-0 season-opening victory and followed it up with a 3-0 win against Bellarmine and 2-0 result at UNC Greensboro.
The Cardinals have three straight shutouts to open the season for the first time since 2009 when they defeated Bowling Green (3-0), IUPUI (2-0) and SIU-Edwardsville (2-0) in succession.
ROED CLIMBING CAREER ASSISTS CHART
Louisville midfielder Sander Roed had one of the top assist seasons in program history in 2022, tying for the seventh-most in program history with eight.
Roed notched his 14th career assist in the win at UNC Greensboro on Friday, moving him into a tie for 10th all-time at Louisville.
Tim Kubel (2014-17) owns the program's career record with 26.
