
Cardinals Set to Open Season at Live in Lou Classic

The Cardinals will field athletes in five races at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park, with the first event kicking off at 9:30 a.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville cross country team will open the 2023 season on Saturday for the 22nd annual Live in Lou Classic hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.
The Cardinals will field athletes in five races on the day with the men competing over the 8K distance and the women racing the 5K.
The morning will begin with the men's gold race at 9:30 a.m. which will be immediately followed by the women's gold race at 10:15 a.m. Louisville athletes will also be competing in the men's blue race at 10:45 a.m., the men's silver race at 12:00 p.m., and the women's silver race at 12:45 p.m.
Parking is free and admission for spectators ages 14 and older is $10. In order to expedite entry, advance purchase of tickets is recommended and can be done so here.

Saturday's meet will be the first showing for the Cardinals under Joe Franklin, who was hired in June as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country after 17 seasons at New Mexico.
Along with the new-look coaching staff, the Cardinals have added 24 newcomers for the 2023 season, with seven transfers and 17 freshmen joining the squad this fall.
