Rodrigues and Salle Advance to Round of 16 in NCAA Doubles Championship

No. 12-ranked Rodrigues and Salle take down Tennessee's fourth-ranked duo of Harper and Monday and become the second UofL doubles team to reach the round of 16
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Louisville's Natan Rodrigues and Fabien Salle defeated the University of Tennessee's fourth-ranked pair of Pat Harper and Johannus Monday 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championship Wednesday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association National Campus.
The 12th-ranked Cardinal duo advance to Thursday's round of 16 to face Auburn's 17th-ranked Raul Dobai and Finn Murgett who defeated Ohio State's No. 21-ranked Justin Boulais and Robert Cash 6-4, 6-4 in their first-round match. Follow the NCAA Doubles Championships here.
Rodrigues and Salle battled through a 6-4 win in the first set and went up 3-0 in the second set before the Vol tandem fought back to win 7-5, forcing a 10-point tiebreak third set. Louisville jumped ahead early and held on for a 10-6 victory.
Rodrigues and Salle improve their overall record to 25-7 and become only the second UofL doubles team to reach the round of 16 and first since 2011 when Austen Childs and Viktor Maksimcuk did so en route to earning all-America distinction.
