MORGAN HILL, Calif. – The fifth-seeded University of Louisville men's golf team opens its postseason run on Monday morning when it tees off in the Morgan Hill Regional at The Institute Golf Club in Morgan Hill, Calif.
Head coach Ryan Blagg leads Louisville into the postseason for the third time since taking over the program for the 2020-21 campaign. The Cardinals are making their 13th appearance in the postseason and eighth in the last 10 years.
"We have been preparing for this event for the entire season and we can't wait to get out there and compete," Blagg said.
Max Kennedy will play at the No. 1 position for the Cardinals and looks to continue his run that has propelled the team into this position.
Named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, Kennedy has posted a 70.93 stroke average, which ranks in the top five in school history for single-season stroke average. The Dublin, Ireland native is riding a remarkable streak where he has shot under par in six-straight tournaments and has registered seven finishes in the top 10 in 11 team events. He owns six consecutive top-10 finishes heading into the regional, including his first collegiate win at the Aggie Invitational. He was recently named to the Palmer Cup's International Team.
Another all-league selection, Jiri Zuska will make his fourth appearance in the postseason, looking to best the 3-under-par mark he posted at the Noblesville Regional in 2021.
A fifth-year senior, Zuska is playing his best golf at the end of the season, finishing sixth at the recent ACC Championship and also was tied for second at the Aggie Invitational. Zuska has totaled a 71.52 stroke average this season and owns four top-10 finishes this year, including eighth place finishes at the Bearcat Invitational and the Williams Cup in the fall.
The Kladno, Czech Republic native has appeared in 54 career events and has picked up 19 top-10 finishes, including a 71.71 career stroke average.
Sebastian Moss will make his postseason debut for the Cardinals and looks to continue his strong sophomore campaign. Moss is third on the team with a 71.61 stroke average and owns five top-10 finishes this year.
The Cardinals will open play on Monday morning at 11 a.m. EST on the No. 10 tee. Once available, tee times, live scoring and stats can be found at Golfstat.com.
