
Nicole Perroni, Negai Nakazawa Earn All-ACC Honors

Nicole Perroni was named All-ACC Second Team, while Negai Nakazawa was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday that University of Louisville lacrosse senior midfielder Nicole Perroni was named to the All-ACC Second Team, while freshman Negai Nakazawa has earned ACC All-Freshman Team Honors.
It marks the first time that Perroni has earned All-ACC honors in her career, while Nakazawa is the second Cardinal in program history to be named to the All-Freshman Team.
Perroni leads the Cards in points (45), goals (37), shots (91), shots on goal (68), and caused turnovers (29), ranks second in draw controls (51) and free-position goals (10), and ranks third in ground balls (31) and assists (8). The senior ranks sixth in the ACC with 1.94 ground balls per game. She ranks second in the conference and No. 28 nationally with 1.81 caused turnovers per game.
Playing 52 games in her career, the midfielder finished the season on a program-high 36 game goal-scoring streak, which broke the previous record of 34 games. She ranks sixth all-time in Louisville program history with 126 draw controls and 63 caused turnovers.
Nakazawa has played in all 17 games with 13 starts, recording 25 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. She was fifth on the team in goals (16), shots (35), shots on goal (24), and shot percentage (.457). She ranks third for the Cards in draw controls (20) and fourth in points (35), assists (5), ground balls (25), and caused turnovers (10).
The All-ACC teams consist of 3 attackers, 3 midfielders, 3 defenders, 1 goalkeeper and 6 at-large selections on each team (16 on each team, 32 total). The All-Freshman Team is the top 12 players regardless of position.
The Cardinals finished the season a 5-12 and 2-7 in the ACC.
