Cardinals Complete Day 1 of Racing at Sunshine State

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The University of Louisville rowing team completed the first day of racing at the Sunshine State Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park.

The Cards found speed with their eights in particular staying in the mix against a competitive field. The 2V8 stroked to a third place finish, just one second behind the winner with a time of 6:55.46. The V8 boat crossed second to only Tulsa with the Cards posting a time of 6:37.20.

The 2V4 finished fifth with a 7:46.54 and the V4 was sixth, posting a time of 7:50.87.

The Cards are joined by Central Florida, Miami (RV), Stetson, Jacksonville, Tulsa, Kansas State, Drexel, Louisville (RV), Michigan State, North Carolina, West Virginia, Kansas, Wisconsin (RV) and Old Dominion will also line up on the water in Sarasota.

The Cardinals are back in action Saturday morning with the first boat in the water at 8:10 a.m.
