Cardinals Open Outdoor Season at Yellow Jacket Invitational
March 16, 2023 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams will kick off the outdoor season on March 17-18 at George C. Griffin Track for the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
The Cardinals will be joined by 10 other teams competing in the two-day event, including three ACC foes in Boston College, Clemson, and Georgia Tech.
Friday's field events will begin with the men's hammer throw at 12:30 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. with the men's 5000m. Competition will resume on Saturday at 12 p.m. with the remainder of the field events starting off the day before the men's 4x400m relay caps off the event at 3:40 p.m.
Louisville will look to carry forward their momentum from a stellar indoor season that saw the team qualify six athletes for the NCAA Indoor Championships, with the men's squad recording their best team finish at the NCAA meet since 2007. The Cardinals also set eight new indoor school records throughout the year on their way to earning a program-best 17 All-ACC honorees at the ACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-25.
The Cards return six of their eight qualifiers from last season's NCAA Outdoor Championships in Trey Allen, Katie Martin, Synclair Savage, Adar Sheere, Aliyah Welter, and Jeremiah Willis.
