Cards make their 2023 debut in the top-25 team rankings
The University of Louisville stands at No. 22 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association men's team rankings released on Feb. 1.
Â
This marks the Cardinals' first top-25 appearance in the 2023 team rankings after spending five weeks in the top 25 last season, reaching as high as No. 23. It also marks Louisville's highest ranking since March 1, 2011 when the Cards stood at No. 20.
Â
Louisville has compiled a 5-1 record in the early season, winning its first five matches, including a victory over then-No. 24 Northwestern. Last weekend, the Cards opened the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 4-1 win over Miami before falling host, 15th-ranked Georgia 4-1 in the finals.
Â
Four singles players and two doubles teams represent Louisville in the ITA individual rankings. Sophomore Natan Rodrigues leads the way in singles at No. 25, marking the first top 25 showing by a Cardinal since 2014-15. Graduate student Fabien Salle is ranked No. 36, while senior Etienne Donnet is slotted at No. 42 and senior Matthew Fung stands at No. 61.
Â
In doubles, Salle and Rodrigues launched into the top 10 at No. 9 after appearing at No. 48 in the preseason polls. David Mizrahi and Will Mayew secured the No. 58 spot after a strong showing in the fall season.
Â
The Cardinals will return to action on Feb. 10 when they play host to No. 5 Kentucky at 5 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
