No. 2 seeded Cards Head to Pittsburgh to Face No. 3-seeded Creighton

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville will head to Pittsburgh to face Creighton in the Sweet Sixteen at noon on Thursday, Dec. 7 in Fitzgerald Field House.

The winner of the match will face the winner of the No. 4-seed Washington State versus No. 1-seed Pittsburgh on Saturday, Dec. 9 with the time to be announced.

The No. 7-ranked and No. 2-seeded Cardinals advanced to their Sweet Sixteen with a sweep of Western Michigan on Friday night. UofL moves to 26-4 overall this season as Louisville hit .342, hitting .300+ in every set, with five aces and 10 blocks. Middle blocker Cara Cresse showed out again with nine kills and three blocks while hitting .538, outside hitter Anna DeBeer recorded nine kills, nine digs, and two blocks, and middle blocker Phekran Kong added seven kills and five blocks. Middle blocker Reese Robbins provided a crucial spark off the bench as she hit .462 with a career-high eight kills and a block. Libero Elena Scott was exceptional as she again totaled 20+ digs with 22 along with seven assists and two aces, and setter Elle Glock had 26 assists, 11 digs, and an ace.

No.3-seeded  Creighton swept Minnesota in the second round to extend its winning streak to 17 straight matches and advanced to Sweet 16 for the third time in program history and first since 2016.

The Bluejays beat the Gophers 25-21, 25-20, 29-27 to improve to 29-4 on the season, advancing to the regional round of the tournament.

CU's Norah Sis led all-players with 16 kills, while Ava Martin pitched in 15 kills and Ellie Bichelmeyer contributed 12 kills. Kendra Wait recorded her 17th double-double of the season, finishing with 44 assists and a match-high 17 digs. Creighton had 56 kills, four aces, 53 digs and seven blocks on .255 hitting.Â
