
Pair of Cross Country Freshmen Set to Compete on National Stage

Rhune Vanroose will race in Belgium on Nov. 19 with Maddie Seaby racing in Canada on Nov. 25.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville cross country athletes Rhune Vanroose and Maddie Seaby are set to cap off the fall season by representing their home countries at national cross country meets over the next two weekends.
Vanroose will compete at the Belgian Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Nov. 19 in Hulshout, Belgium at Joris Verhaegen Sports Park. The freshman will toe the line at 9:30 a.m. ET for the junior women's race that will be contested over 5620 meters.
The meet will serve as an opportunity for athletes to qualify for the European Cross Country Championships, which will be held in the Belgian capital of Brussels on Dec. 10.
The native of Buggenhout, Belgium competed in three meets for the Cardinals during the cross country season, recording a personal-best 6K time of 21:06.2 at the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

Seaby will compete the following weekend on Saturday, Nov. 25 in the Canadian Cross Country Championships, which are set to take place at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The U20 Women's 6K race will begin at 1:45 p.m. ET.
A native of Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada, Seaby competed in four meets during her freshman cross country campaign, scoring points for the Cardinals at all four events. Her personal-best in the 6K also came at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, where she clocked a time of 20:51.5.
