
Women Post Best Finish Since 2017 at NCAA Southeast Regionals

The women’s squad placed ninth, improving 11 spots on their 22nd-place finish at the regional meet in 2022.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of Louisville cross country teams wrapped up their season on Friday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regionals at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C.
The women's team placed ninth as a unit, improving 11 slots on their 22nd-place finish at the same event a year ago and posting the best finish for the Louisville women at the regional meet since 2017.
Rylee Penn led the Cardinals through the tape once again, recording a time of 20:45.2 over the 6K course to place 31st and narrowly miss out on All-Region honors.
Lexie Paszkiewicz continued her breakthrough season, clocking a time of 21:05.6 to earn a 56th-place finish, over two minutes faster and nearly 100 spots higher than her regional performance in 2022.
Layla Roebke crossed the line in 64th with a time of 21:12.4 and a duo of freshmen rounded out the scoring five as Maddie Seaby placed 81st in 21:25.5 and Rhune Vanroose recorded a time of 21:28.6 for 84th place and her first top-five team finish of the year.
On the men's side, Innocent Ntwali capped off his freshman season with a stellar performance in his 10K debut, finishing in 71st place with a time of 30:47.8 to lead the men to a 20th-place finish.
A trio of Cardinals recorded lifetime-bests in the 10K with Jack Stansell (31:26.7), Forest MacKenzie (31:46.7), and Ethan Meyer (31:53.1) standing as the next three Louisville men to cross the line.
Nicky Alexander was the fifth man through for the second straight meet, making his 10K debut as well with a time of 32:07.8.
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the indoor track & field season with the squads set to open up competition on Dec. 2, splitting between the Commonwealth College Opener in Louisville and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, Mass.
