Louisville Swimming and Diving Opens Season Against Xavier

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams prepare for their first meet of the season against Xavier this Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:00 pm. The meet will take place at home in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The Xavier Musketeers opened up their season on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Butler Double Dual meet in Fishers, Ind. The men and women swept the meet, picking up a combined 13 event wins. With the women going 5-0 and the men going 4-0, Xavier was 9-0 in head-to-head match-ups for the day.
The last time the Cardinals faced the Musketeers was in October of 2021, which resulted in a 179-78 win for both the men and women. Louisville holds an undefeated 6-0 record over Xavier, dating back to the 2000-01 season.
Last season, the Louisville men finished second in the conference and placed 12th overall in the NCAA Championships. ACC Swimmer of the Year, Nicolas Albiero finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:38.88 in last year's national championships.
The women's team finished third in the conference meet and sixth in the NCAA Championships. Gabi Albiero earned five All-American Honors and two honorable mention All-American honors last season. She amassed 35.5 points in the NCAA Championship meet.
After this week's meet against Xavier, the Cardinals will travel to Dallas, TX to face Southern Methodist University on Oct. 7-8.
