
Lacrosse Adds Four To ACC All-Academic Squad

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The University of Louisville has placed four athletes on the All-ACC Academic Women's Lacrosse Team, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Cardinals Caroline Blalock, Allegra Catalano, Hannah Morris, and Nicole Perroni were selected to represent the University of Louisville.
It is Blalock's fourth appearance on this list. She was also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic District 2 First Team. She earned All-ACC Second Team and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention. Earlier this year, the five-year captain was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She led the Cards in assists (19) and ground balls (36), ranked second in points (57) and caused turnovers (18), and ranked third in goals (38) and draw controls (41). She ranked sixth in the ACC with 2.0 ground balls per game.

Perroni tallied 50 goals on the season, which ranked 13th in the ACC. She led the team with 28 caused turnovers and was second with 34 ground balls and 64 draw controls. She tied her career-high with five goals against Syracuse and Pittsburgh. She scored at least one goal in all 18 games this season and dating back to last year has a 20-game goal scoring streak.

Morris led the team and ranked ninth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 56 goals and 3.11 goals per game this season. Her 56 goals more than doubled her previous season-high of 25 in 2021 and she also recorded 66 points, besting her previous high of 27. She scored in 16 of 18 games and finished with a career-high six goals against Syracuse. Her 108 career goals rank second on the team, behind Blalock's 144.

Catalano started all 18 games and ranked fourth on the team with 29 goals and 35 points. She finished season with six assists assists, 63 shots, 14 ground balls, and five caused turnovers while recording at least one goal in 13 of 18, including eight multi goal games and four hat tricks. She tallied two goals and one ground ball in the ACC Tournament loss to Pitt. She led the team with a career-high five goals in the loss to Virginia and led the team with a career-high tying four goals in the win at Cincinnati.

Boston College graduate attacker Charlotte North was selected the Atlantic Coast Conference's 2022 Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year and highlights She repeated as the women's recipient of the Tewaaraton Award, which is given annually to the top lacrosse player in the nation. She became just the seventh player – male or female – to win the award twice and is the 10th women's Tewaaraton honoree from an ACC program.

North graduated from Boston College with a degree in sociology in 2021 and currently is working toward a master's degree in sport administration. She finished second in the nation with 92 goals in 2022, piling up a career-high 115 points and 139 draw controls, which ranked fifth and fourth in the nation, respectively North finished her college career as the NCAA's all-time leader with 358 goals and was selected as a first-team All-American this season by the IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

All nine of the league's women's lacrosse programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, which includes 25 student-athletes that earned Inside Lacrosse All-America honors this season. All four of the ACC's season award honorees were represented on the team – UNC's Jamie Ortega (Attacker of the Year), UNC's Ally Mastroianni (Midfielder of the Year), UNC's Emma Trenchard (Defender of the Year) and Virginia's Rachel Clark (Freshman of the Year). Thirty members of the All-ACC Academic Team also were named to the 2022 All-ACC Team.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
