Nick Albiero Named ACC Swimmer of the Year

This is his second consecutive year winning this honor
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville's Nicolas Albiero was named the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimmer of the Year  highlighting the ACC's yearly award winners for the 2021-22 Swimming and Diving season.

Albiero, an Olympic Trials Qualifier, finished third in the 200 Fly at NCAAs and was also the 2021 ACC Swimmer of the Year.   Â

Going into the NCAA Championships in Atlanta last month, he was top qualifier in the nation in the 200 fly and qualified for three individual events and notched seven All-America honors this season. The senior from Louisville, Kentucky, finished third in the 200 butterly, sixth in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 100 backstroke. He also was part of four All-America relays (200 medley, 400 medley, 800 freestyle and 400 freestyle). He was one of  just 12 Swimmers at NCAAs with a "Triple A Final" (making A final in three events).
At the ACC Championships, he won the 200 butterfly for an ACC-record fifth straight year. He also won silver medals at part of the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays. He won bronze in the 100 butterfly and as part of the fourth place 200 freestyle relay.
