Louisville Closes Out Regular Season with Four School Records at Clark Wood Invitational
April 30, 2022 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field team set four outdoor school records and earned eight event wins to close out the regular season as hosts of the Clark Wood Invitational at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park Saturday.
Â
"It was an awesome weekend to honor our senior class here at Cardinal Park," said head. This class has accomplished so much for our program and sport, and I know they will continue to make a tremendous impact in our society in the future." As always, thank you to an outstanding group of officials and volunteers that helped this weekend."
Â
Gabriela Leon surpassed the women's outdoor pole vault school record with a facility-best and first-place height of 4.61m (15-1.5) as the Cardinals swept the top-three spots in the women's pole vault. The redshirt senior's mark ranks first in the ACC, second nationally, and as the second-best all-time ACC outdoor women's pole vault mark. Aliyah Welter posted a personal-best bar of 4.36m (14-3.5) for second and Auriane Viola cleared 4.06m (13-3.75) for third.
Â
Sean Roth broke the men's outdoor pole vault school record with a second-place height of 5.23m (17-1.75). The mark ranks third in the ACC and eclipses a previous program best of 5.12m (16-9.5) achieved by Roth and teammate Zach Frye at the Indiana Invitational last weekend.
Â
The third outdoor school record fell when the women's 4x100-meter team of Synclair Savage, Taylor Herbert, Je'Nyia Burton and Kiyah Yeast clocked a first-place time of 44.91 seconds. The marks exceeds a previous program best of 45.22 at the Louisville Invitational in 2017.
Â
Sterling Warner-Savage reset the men's 100-meter school record when he posted a time of 10.30 seconds in the preliminaries. Warner-Savage bested the opening mark with a wind-aided 10.09 to take the finals, while Isiah Pantiere clocked a wind-aided 10.39 for second.
Â
Emily Scott and Trey Allen cleared first-place heights to take their respective high jump events. Scott recorded a mark of 1.76m (5-9.25) for first on the women's side, while Allen achieved a bar of 2.15m (7-0.5) to win the men's competition.
Â
The Cardinals claimed the top-three spots in the men's shot put. Cade Richeson picked up his third event win of the season with a heave of 18.00m (59-0.75), while Jorge Contreras threw 17.77m (58-3.75) for second and Bryan Hudson earned an outdoor personal-best mark of 17.71m (58-1.25) for third. Adar Sheere also recorded an outdoor personal-best mark of 16.33m (53-7).
Â
Morgan Bentley and Rachel Darden finished in the top-two spots in the women's triple jump. Bentley placed first with an outdoor personal-best of 12.37m (40-7) on her third attempt, while Darden recorded a jump of 12.02m (39-5.25) for second. The women's 4x400-meter relay team earned a first-place finish with a season-best time of 3:43.40.
