Gabi Albiero Swims to All American Honors on Day 3 of NCAAs

ATLANTA -- The University of Louisville added another All-American honor to its long lists as Gabi Albiero finished sixth in the 100 butterfly after Friday's finals at the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center.

Virginia held on to its lead with 386.5 points followed by Stanford (276), Texas (257), NC State (193), Alabama (177), California (136), Ohio State (131), Louisville (130), Michigan (126) and Tennessee (107) to round out the top 10 of the 36 team field.

Abby Hay shaved another .83 off her time in the 400 IM to finish 12th with a time of 4:06.35. Top-seeded Alex Walsh of Virginia was the only swimmer under four minutes when she turned in the winning time of 3:57.25.

Sophomore Gabi Albiero moved up to sixth place in the 100 butterfly final with a time of 50.88, the third-fastest time in school history. UVAs Kate Douglass just edged Stanford's Torri Huske with a winning time of 49.04.

The 400 medley relay team of Abby Hay (51.48), Kaylee Wheeler (59.35), Gabi Albiero (50.53) and Arina Openysheva (47.45) combined to put up a time of 3:28.81, shaving off 2.11 seconds off their entry time.
