Â
Louisville will return to action with a midweek matchup against Western Illinois Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Â
After falling behind 5-0 through the first two innings, the Cardinals began to chip away at the lead with three runs in the fourth and continued with a seven-run fifth inning and six-run sixth inning capped by Smith's walk-off grand slam to give the Cardinals a season-high 16 runs.
Â
Freshman Ally Alexander finished the game with a career-high three runs and four hits including her first home run of the season. Smith and Roby finished the game with four RBIs apiece. Gabby Holloway (4-2) got the win after holding the Hoosiers scoreless and scattering three hits while fanning two in 3.1 innings of relief.
Â
The Hoosiers (12-5) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning behind Grace Lorsung's RBI double and Lindsey Warrick's RBI single. Indiana tacked on three more runs with an RBI double from Grayson Radcliff and Sarah Stone's two-run single in the third.
Â
The Cardinals began to rally in the fourth when Alexander led off with a hit and crossed the plate on a double by Vanessa Miller. Back-to-back singles by Maddi Grant and Jenna Servi sent Miller home and Carmyn Greenwood doubled Grant home to make the score 5-3.
Â
Louisville carried the momentum into the fifth inning. Korbe Otis reached on a fielder's choice and Alexander smashed her first career home run over the centerfield fence to even the score at 5-5. Vanessa Miller followed with a hit, Maddi Grant walked and Carmyn Greenwood was intentionally walked to load the bases for Dylann Cravens who earned walk to put the Cardinals on top 6-5. Roby then stepped up to the plate and sent a shot over the right field fence for her first career grand slam, pushing Louisville's lead to 10-5.
Â
The sixth inning brought six more runs for the Cardinals. Servi's groundout plated Alexander and Carmyn Greenwood added an RBI single. Smith's two-out grand slam made the final score 16-5.

NOTES:
- The 16 runs in Sunday's win were the most scored by Louisville in a game since March 12, 2019 when Louisville beat Morehead State 21-1.
- The five-run deficit was the largest overcome this season by the Cardinals.
- The last time Louisville had two grand slams in a game was on March 26, 2016 when Lillie Goetz and Megan Hensley each had a grand slam in a 12-0 win at Western Kentucky.
- With her team-best eighth home run of the season, Roby extends her career total to 33, moving into a tie for fifth with Taner Fowler (2011-14) on Louisville's all-time list. She needs three more to tie for fourth with Melissa Roth (2007-10).
- Smith is now on a seven-game hitting streak.
- Alexander's four hits tie a school record for hits by a player in a game.
