
Cardinals Travel to Compete in Meyo Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field team travels to the South Bend, Ind. Friday and Saturday for the Meyo Invitational at the Loftus Sports Center.
"We have a vision of creating a culture within our program to be able to be at the very top of the ACC and to prepare for that, we have to compete against the best programs during the regular season." said Heins.
The Cardinals will send a total of 14 athletes from the distance and multi-event groups. The women's pole vault team will be represented by Aliyah Welter, Auriane Viola and Lily Fleetwood after entering the weekend as the second ranked group in the nation by USTFCCA.
Friday's events will start with the women's long jump at 4:00 pm and conclude with the men's 200-meter at 8:30 p.m. Events will continue Saturday with the women's 3000m at 9:45 a.m. and close out with the men's 4×400 meter relays at 4:05 p.m. The Meyo Invitational is free and open to the public, but visitors must follow university protocols and wear a mask at all times when indoors. For fans not in attendance they can follow live stats attached above, while a live stream will be available for select events on Saturday.
The distance teams will be back to full strength this weekend after impressive performances at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. Isaac Kiprop remained at the front of the field from the line before overtaking the rest of the competitors over the final two laps to earn a personal-best time of 8:29.30 and win the second heat of the men's 3000-meter, while Sarah Terzotis set her own personal record in the women's 3000-meter.
