It marks the second consecutive season that Blalock has been named to the Tewaaraton Watch List.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tewaaraton Foundation announced today that University of Louisville lacrosse graduate midfielder Caroline Blalock has been named to the 2022 Tewaaraton Award watch list. The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award.Â
It marks the second consecutive season that Blalock has been named to the Tewaaraton Watch List.
Â
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Â
Blalock is one of 23 players from the Atlantic Coast Conference named to the watch list.
Â
Last season, the five-year captain led the Cardinals in assists (11), ground balls (32) and draw controls (39), and ranked second in goals (30) and points (41). She ranks third all-time in UofL program history with 78 caused turnovers, fourth with 127 ground balls, fifth with 38 assists and sixth with 105 draw controls.
Â
Earlier, she was named preseason All-ACC and to the Inside Lacrosse Women Preseason All-American team.
Players not named to this initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions will be announced on March 11 and April 1, before the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees on April 21. Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.Â
Â
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
