
Louisville Set to Compete with Talented Field at Tiger Paw Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field team travels to Clemson, S.C. for the Tiger Paw Invitational Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12 at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.
The two-day meet marks the final of regular season before the program heads to the ACC Championships from Feb. 24-26.
The field features a total of 22 programs, including seven from the ACC. In addition to host Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, and Virginia Tech will also represent the conference. On the men's side, seven top-25 teams in the latest installment of USTFCCCA's Rating Index will compete, while six top-25 women's teams are also set to be in action this weekend.
The meet opens with the men's weight throw at 11:00 a.m. and Friday's events close with the men's 60-meter finals at 5:55 p.m. Competition resumes Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the men's pole vault and concludes with the men's 4x400m relay at 4:00 p.m. Fans not in attendance can follow with live results link attached above.
The Cardinals are coming off a limited travel team at the Meyo Invitational. Aliyah Welter cleared her best height of the season, of the season, finishing with a third-place mark of 4.23m (13-10.5) in the women's pole vault. Ian Kibiwot closed out the meet with a personal-best time of 8:14.82 in the men's Ryan Shay 3000-meter. Isaac Kiprop and Cooper Marchal clocked a pair of sub-15 minute times to earn personal bests in the men's 5000m.
Louisville has five athletes currently in position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which requires a top-16 mark nationally earn an invite to Birmingham, Ala. For the women, Gabriela Leon is ranked fifth in the pole vault and Styliana Ioannidou rounds out the top-16 in the high jump. Trey Allen remains 12th in the men's high jump, while Paul Kallenberg ranks 15th in the heptathlon and Jeremiah Willis stands 16th in the long jump.
