December 02, 2022 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams begin the 2022-23 indoor season on Saturday at the Commonwealth College Opener. The meet will be held at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center and is hosted by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
"Saturday's competition is an exciting opportunity for our students and a tremendous evaluation tool for our coaching staff," said head coach Dale Cowper. "I'm excited to see this group get our indoor season started this weekend."
In addition to Louisville, the field will be made up largely of colleges located in Kentucky and the surrounding areas including Bellarmine, Kentucky, and Northern Kentucky.
The University of Texas will also compete on Saturday following the 2021-22 indoor season in which their men were crowned the NCAA indoor champions for the first time in school history and their women finished second nationally for their best finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2014.
Doors to the facility will open at 9:00 a.m., while track events begin at 10:00 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries. The rest of the meet will run on a rolling schedule. Admission to the meet will cost $15.35, and parking in two surface lots provided by the facility will be available for $5.
