
Louisville Lacrosse Adds Nine to 2023 Class

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse head coach Scott Teeter and his staff announced their 2023 class, which features nine student-athletes.

The class includes two student-athletes from Texas and one from Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio.Â

"I'm really excited to bring in this class," said Teeter. "This class is a well-rounded class that covers a lot of different areas on the lacrosse field. They're super athletic, they have excellent lacrosse IQ. We couldn't be happier with signing this class. The other bright spot about this class is that they come from all over the nation as well. There are a lot of different states represented in here, so there is a little bit of different styles."

Hanna John, Goalkeeper, Wake Forest, N.C. (Wake Forest)

John comes to Louisville after a stellar high school career including a NACVI Conference Championship title in 2022. A USL All-American, John was named the two-time Wake Forest High School Goalie of the Year. She also received two-time All-Conference, two-time All-Region, and two-time All-State honors. John was a four-year varsity tennis player.Â

Kelsey Commerford, Defender, Long Valley, N.J. (West Morris Central)

In her high school career, Commerford earned honors as the team 2022 Defensive MVP, a 2022 First Team All-Conference honoree, and a 2022 First Team All-County honoree. Ranked in the Top 100 Juniors in New Jersey, Commerford's club team was ranked first in the nation in 2022. She also plays soccer and was voted captain after leading her team to a 2021 State Championship title.Â

Morgan Vasseur, Defender, Dacula, Ga. (Mill Creek)

Vasseur comes to Louisville after playing high school lacrosse at Mill Creek High School. Named a three-time Scholar-Athlete, Vasseur led her team to three regional championships. She was ranked No. 11 in the country by Eagle Stix 2023 Blue and was named a 2020 Under Armor All-American. She also played basketball for Mill Creek.Â

Kangas joins the Cardinals after a successful high school and travel team career. The Minnesota native has garnered many individual awards including a First Team All-State honoree, two-time All-Conference honoree, and a three-time Under Armor All-American selection. Named to the All-America Senior Game Watchlist and the Minnesota State High School Watchlist, the defender led her team to participate in the 2021 State Tournament.Â

Peers comes to Louisville as a two-time Players to Watch honoree and a 2021 Nike American Select Upstate Team member. The New York native was named to the First Team All-Monroe County team twice and the 2022 Class A All-Tournament team. Peers earned the All Greater Rochester Honor in 2021.Â

New Albany's leading scorer in 2022, Cole was named the New Albany Offensive Player of the Year after leading her team to the 2022 Ohio High School D1 State Championships. The Central Ohio Super-12 Girls Lacrosse honoree was named First Team All-State, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-OCC. Cole was the All-Region Attack Player of the Year and was ranked No. 1 in the Midwest by USA Lacrosse Magazine.Â

Kirchenheiter joins the Cardinals after a strong junior campaign where she led Severna Park to a 2022 Regional Championship and a State Championship runner-up finish. Severna Park was ranked No. 20 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine National Top 25 awarded to the best high schools in the nation. The team Maryland American Select member was also a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. Kirchenheiter was the MVP of the volleyball team.Â

Roach heads to UofL after leading Hockaday to two Texas High School State Championships. Led by the Texas native, Hockaday was ranked No. 3 in the South, No. 2 in the West, and top 20 in the country by 2022 Inside Lacrosse. She was named to the Texas All-State and All-District teams. Roach also played field hockey.

A three-year varsity starter, Ryland led Trinity Christian Academy in goals, draw controls, and assists. Named to the Adrenaline All-American watchlist, the Texas native earned All-State and All-District honors. Ryland was the captain of her club team, which is ranked No. 1 in Texas. She also played volleyball and basketball for Trinity Christian.Â
