
Cardinals Complete Day 2 at SMU Classic

Women finish third and Men were fifth.
DALLAS -- The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team wrapped up action at the two-day SMU Classic held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

USC won the women's Classic with a total of 325 points. Michigan was second with 311 followed by
Louisville (304), Missouri (255), Miami (223), and SMU with 203. The Texas men won the Classic with a score of 348 followed by Texas A&M (306), Missouri (298), Michigan (280), Louisville (220) and SMU (196).

Texas swimmer Carson Foster was the top point producer for the meet with Michigan diver Cameron Gammage was the highest point winner for the men. USC swimmer Isabelle Odgers was the top point producer for the women with diver Mia Vallee atop the women divers point-wise.
The event showcased top competition from around the country and featured eight swimmers and one diver from each competing institution. Each swimmer may compete in three events per day, and events were contested in two heats, with one swimmer from each school in each heat. Divers competed on 1- and 3-meter boards.

In the 500 freestyle, Louisville freshman Paige Kuwata touched fourth in the A-final with a time 4:50.70. Rye Ulett was third in the B-final with a time of 4:48.71. Denis Loktev handled the 500 free for the men, touching in fifth with a time of 4:25.06. In the B-final, Murilo Sartori was second in the B-final with a time of 4:23.09. In the 200 breaststroke freshman Cecilia Viberg was sixth with a time of 2:16.53 in the A-final, with teammate Madie Hall touching fourth in the B-final with a time of 2:17.66. Â In the men's 200 breast, Denis Petrashov was third, posting a 1:57.17 in the A-final. In the B-final, Jackson Millard was sixth with a time of 2:05.00.

Paige Hetrick won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:55.63 in a hotly contested final lap. Rye Ulett put up a 1:57.31 to touch second in the B-final. On the men's side, Charlie Crush was sixth in the A-final, stopping the clock at 1:49.05. Guy Brooks went 1:47.39 in the B-final.

In 1-meter diving, Jiselle Miller posted a mark of 249.95 for sixth place and in men's 3-meter, Adam Sneden was sixth with a score of 280.30.

Gabi Albiero won the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.08 and Christiana Regenauer won the B-final with a time of 48.85. For the men, Abdelrahman El-Araby was fifth, going 43.91. Guy Brooks was fourth in the B-final with a time of 44.05.

Tristen Ulett was second in the 200 butterfly, boarding a 1:57.01 in the A-final. In the B-final, Paige Kuwata won her heat with a time of 2:00.83. On the men's side, Denis Loktev was fifth with a ime of 1:49.38. Dalton Lowe was third in the B-final with a time of 1:49.34.

In the 200 IM, Madie Hall was fourth in the A-final with a time 1:59.87 and Paige Hetrick was third in the B-final with 2:02.15. For the men, Charlie Crush was sixth in the A-final, going 1:51.26. Murilo Sartori was sixth in the B-final with a time of 1:53.61.

The Cardinals won the final relay, the 200 free relay, when Gabi Albiero (22.64), Christina Regenauer (22.12), Tristen Ulett (22.50) and Paige Hetrick's anchor of 22.45. The men finished fifth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:20.47 put up by Abdelrahman El-Araby (20.08), Dalton Lowe (19.99), Guy Brooks (19.96) and Murilo Sartori (20.44).
