Cards Continue Fall Season this Weekend Hosting Eastern Kentucky and Kentucky

LOUISVILLE - Ky. - The University of Louisville softball team will continue fall play this weekend, hosting games against Eastern Kentucky and Kentucky at Ulmer Stadium. The Cards will play a doubleheader against the Colonels on Saturday with the first pitch set for 12 p.m. and the second game to follow. Sunday will feature a showdown against the in-state rival Wildcats at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Last Time
Louisville went 2-0 in its first action on the field this fall, defeating Bellarmine 8-0 and 7-0 in a doubleheader on Sept. 25. Taylor Roby, the Card's home run leader last season, picked up where she left off, hitting one out of the park in each game against the Knights. Roby also saw two innings in the circle, delivering two strikeouts.Â

Five different pitchers took the circle for the Cardinals against Bellarmine. Sam Booe led the way pitching four innings, registering six strikeouts, while only allowing two hits against the Knights. Taja Felder got the start in the second game and did not allow a hit in two innings pitched.

Following this weekend's games, the Cards will remain home for a doubleheader against Indiana on Oct. 14 at Ulmer stadium. The first pitch against the Hoosiers is set for 4:30 p.m., and the second game to follow. Admission is free to all home games.

• The Cardinals will return 14 letterwinners and seven starters from last year's team including two-time NFCA All-Southeast Region selection Taylor Roby and ACC All-Freshman honoree Korbe Otis. Louisville also welcomes six newcomers to the 2022-23 roster.
• Holly Aprile is entering her fifth season as UofL's head coach. Aprile has guided the Cardinals to 93 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
