Men's Cross Country Places 12th; Women Finish 15th at ACC Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville's men's and women's cross country teams began their postseason Friday morning with the ACC Championships at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va. The men earned a 12^th-place team finish, while the women finished 15^th.

"While not content with the team results today, I'm excited to see a strong atmosphere continue growing within our cross country program," said head coach Dale Cowper. "Our students are competing hard and training well under excellent leadership with Coach Heins and Carlson."

Ian Kibiwot was the first Cardinal across the line for the men, closing to a 23^rd-place finish in a personal-best 8K time of 23:27.3. Isaac Kiprop fought through a large pack of finishers to place 57^th in 24:01.9.

"Ian was able to put himself in position to once again be in contention within the front pack of runners and unfortunately fell just short of earning All-ACC Honors," added Cowper.

Forest MacKenzie broke into the scoring five for the first time this fall, clocking 25:01.8 to earn 96^th place. Jack Moore rounded out the top 100 individual finishers, finishing his first ACC Championships in 25:05.9, while Ethan Meyer finished 107th in a mark of 25:19.7.

Notre Dame's Carter Solomon earned the individual title in 22:55.9, while Wake Forest captured the team title for the first time since 1994 with 44 points.

The women's team was led once again by Madeline Castleberry, who topped her previous best time in the 6K to place 73^rd with a mark of 21:24.9, while Sydney Partyka covered the course in 22:25.0.

Lexie Paszkiewicz crossed the line in 22:46.0, with Megan John following close behind in 22:57.0. Ellie Maurer kicked her way to a time of 23:29.1 to close out the scoring for the Cardinals.

N.C. State's Katelyn Tuohy crossed the line first in a new course record of 19:08.9, as the Wolfpack claimed their seventh consecutive ACC team championship, tallying 34 points to edge Notre Dame.

The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships, which will take place at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 11.
