Cardinal Freshman Libero's defense helps UofL to remain unbeaten
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville libero Elena Scott has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week while Georgia Tech right side hitter Mariana Brambilla has been named the Volleyball Player of the Week.
The two will face off this Sunday as ACC play continues.Â

A freshman from Louisville, Kentucky, Scott had the match high in digs in both of last weekend's contests. The rookie libero recorded 17 digs against Miami and 22 digs against Florida State. In the match against Miami, Scott also posted three aces. The Cardinal averaged 6.50 digs per set on the weekend.
Brambilla was the driving force behind the Georgia Tech attack through the opening weekend of ACC play, fueling the Jackets to sweeps of both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. The senior from Porto Alegre, Brazil, finished with 39 kills for 6.50 kills per set at a .387 clip to lead the team in each category. She also pitched in on the defensive end with 19 digs, the third-highest mark on the squad. Brambilla set a season high in kills against Wake Forest, piling up 23 on a .395 hitting percentage, and added 10 digs for her sixth double-double on the year. Her 23 kills are the most in the ACC in a three-set match this season. The senior racked up 41.5 total points on the weekend, good for 6.92 points per set.
