Former Louisville Tennis Standout Federico Gomez Reaches Semifinals of ITF World Tennis Tournament

Former University of Louisville men's tennis standout Federico Gomez advanced to the semifinals of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour tournament in Cancun, Mexico.
Gomez, who graduated in 2019, won six straight matches en route to the semifinal. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native went 3-0 in in straight sets the qualifying draw to advance to the main draw where he upset the top-seeded player in the tournament, Strong Kircheimer (USA) 7-6, 7-6. Gomez followed with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Boliva's Murkel Dellien to advance to the quarterfinals where he edged Mexico's Juan Alejandro Hernandez. In Saturday's semifinal Gomez fell to France's Jaimee Floyd Angele 6-0, 6-1, ending his impressive tournament run.
This is Gomez's third tournament of the year, most recently, he reached the round of 16 of the ITF M15 Tournament in Weston, Florida.
