Swimming and Diving Unveil 2021-22 Schedule

Cardinals will face challenging slate heading into ACCs and the NCAA Championships
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville swimming and diving team has released its 2021-22 schedule according to head coach Arthur Albiero.

The Cardinals had a banner season in 2020-21 when the men won the ACC Championship and placed fifth at the NCAAs with two National Championships with the women finishing the season ranked 13th after a third place finish at ACCs.

The Cardinals will start out with a long-standing tradition of facing Xavier as their first opponent on Oct. 1.

Louisville will then head out to Dallas as the Mustangs feature the return of the SMU Classic on October 8-9, which welcomes top competition from around the country and features eight swimmers and one diver from each competing institution.Â

UofL will then travel to Knoxville to race the Volunteers on Oct. 21. The Tennessee men and women both ended last season ranked No. 11. The Cards will then host long-time conference rival Notre Dame on Nov. 5. The Irish men ended their season ranked No. 20 and the women weighed in at No. 24.

Louisville will compete in the Purdue Invitational, a meet that is formatted much like a conference championship with morning prelims and evening finals Nov. 18-20. The three-day, six session meet is back on the schedule for the ninth time as a co-ed meet at the Burke Aquatic Center. The Boilermakers will host Louisville, Northwestern, Missouri State, Illinois State, FIU and McKendree are expected to have student-athletes in attendance this year.

UofL will compete in the Toyota US Open (LC) Dec. 1-4 in Atlanta as the final event of the 2021 calendar year.

The Cardinals will open the new year with a Jan. 8 meet at Missouri before heading to Bloomington to face the Hoosiers on Jan. 14.

This year's Battle of the Bluegrass is slated for January 22 in the Ralph Wright Natatorium and long-time rival Cincinnati will visit on Jan. 29.

The Cards will host the Louisville Invitational on Feb. 10-11 as the final warm-up for the ACC Championships. This year's conference championship will combine the men and women into one meet spread out over five days (Feb. 15-19) and will be hosted in Atlanta at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

The Cardinal Divers will head to their NCAA Diving Zones in Ann Arbor (March 7-9) to vie for a spot on the NCAA Championship roster. The NCAAs will be held in Atlanta for both the women (March 15-19) and the men (March 23-26) at the McAuley Aquatic Center.

The final event of the schedule will be the 2022 World Championships Trials (April 26-30) in the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Â
