ABOUT THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals shook off a one-goal deficit with a pair of tallies in the final four minutes to secure a 2-1 victory over Evansville in the home opener on Monday. Sander Roed headed home a cross from Pedro Fonseca in the 87th minute to tie the match at one and Aboubacar Camara converted off an Evansville turnover less than two minutes later for the game-winner.
Louisville finished Monday's match with 20 shots, its highest total since taking 24 against Northern Kentucky on Oct. 15, 2019. The Cardinals finished with a 15-1 edge in shots in the second half.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisville trails the all-time series against Bellarmine 5-6-3, but the two programs have not met since 1991. The two teams played every season from 1979-1991. Friday's matchup will be the first between the two since Bellarmine became a Division I program.
ROED MAKING EARLY IMPACT FOR CARDS
Making his way to Louisville from Norway, freshman Sander Roed has quickly made an impact for the Cardinals. Despite playing as a reserve, Roed is currently tied for the team lead with three points through the first two matches.
The freshman midfielder assisted on the game-tying goal in the second half of the season opener at Saint Louis and then headed home the tying goal in the 87th minute of the victory over Evansville. Roed also showed off his scoring prowess with a goal in the preseason exhibition at UAB.
