Current and Former Cardinals Compete in USA Field Hockey Young Women's National Championship

The University of Louisville was well-represented at USA Field Hockey's 2021 Young Women's National Championship which took place June 15-20 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va.

Current Cardinals Mia Duchars, Sofia Pendolino and Katie Schneider and former standout Carter Ayars competed in the event which served as the initial selection opportunity for both the women's Junior High Performance teams and senior U.S. Women's National Team.

Schneider helped the Courage to the tournament title after compiling a 3-0 record including a 3-1 win in the championship game. The Gold Medal victory came against Duchars' Freedom squad which posted a runner-up finish. Pendolino played for the Patriots who finished 10^th in the event.

Ayars, a 2019 NFHCA All-American who played for Louisville from 2016-19) also competed in the event, helping Spirit squad to a fifth-place finish.
