Cards Close the Regular Season at the Aggie Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team closes the regular season at the 2021 Aggie Invitational which will be contested Friday through Sunday at Traditions Club. It will be the first Aggie Invitational since 2018 with the 2019 and 2020 editions being canceled due to weather and the pandemic, respectively.
The Cardinals will be paired with Kansas and Houston in the first round and tee off from the first hole at 9:50 a.m. EST
Play begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday's final round will start at 7:30 a.m.
The strong field features four teams ranked in the Golfstat.com Top 25: No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 8 Texas, No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 25 Texas Tech. Rounding out the field are: Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Lamar, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Rice, UNLV and UTSA.
Representing Louisville in the Aggie Invitational are seniors Matthias Schmid, John Murphy and Devin Morley, along with junior Jiri Zuska and freshman Max Kennedy.
The Cardinals are coming off a seventh-place finish at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Louisville shot 9-over-par over the two days (289-293-291=873) to place seventh at the par-72, 6,966-yard course.
Schmid and Zuska each shot 71 during the final round to finish in the top 30 overall for the Cards.
Schmid, one of the nation's top performers, ended the tournament in a tie for 14th place after shooting 73-73-71=217 to finish at 1-over-par over the two days in Florida. The senior posted three birdies during his round and ended the day with an eagle at the par 5 No. 18. It was the 25th top-15 finish during his four-year career.
