Louisville falls 4-3 in tightly contested match

The No. 43-ranked University of Louisville fell 4-3 to No. 46-ranked Notre Dame Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Ind.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point after the No. 16 ranked pair of Ally Bojczuk and Julia Lilien defeated No. 27-ranked Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova 6-3. ND's Julia Andreach and Yashna Yellavi downed Dina Chaika and Chelsea Sawyer 6-2.

The Cards tied the match at one when Raven Neely handled Ally Bojczuk 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Cameron Corse toppled UofL's Nikolina Jovic 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 to give ND back the lead at 2-1. Cardinal Rhea Verma tied the match back up with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court five. Andrea Di Palma pulled an upset with a 7-6, 6-2 win over ND's No. 78-ranked Page Freeman at second singles. Louisville fell at No. 4 singles.

With the match at three apiece, the Cardinals' fate was in the hands of Dina Chaika, who dropped the first set 6-4, came back to win the second set 6-3 before bowing at 6-3 in the third.

The Cardinals return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center April 9 at noon when they face Georgia Tech.
