Cards Wrap Up Louisville Track and Field Invitational with 13 wins

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams tallied 13 wins with the women collecting eight and the men picking up five on the final day of the Louisville Track and Field Invitational Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Park.

"Trey Allen and Gabi Leon really stood out to me in the vertical jumps today and it was great to watch Kiyah Yeast drop back under 24 seconds in the 200 meters again," said UofL head coach Dale Cowper. "We got a lot of work done this weekend in many event areas. Each squad continues to grow, and we need to stay on this trajectory for a few more weeks in order to set up a strong postseason later this summer."

Louisville Women's Highlights
• The Cardinals took first and second place in the pole vault, with Gabriela Leon tying her own school record of 4.27m (14-00.00) to win the event. Aliyah Welter placed second at 4.17mm (13-08.25).
• Rashida Harris won the shot put with a mark of 15.82m (51-11.00). Â
• Purity Sanga led all runners in the 1500m with a time of 4:29.41 to win the event.
• Alexis Gibbons captured first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.16m (20-02.5).
• Louisville placed three among the top four finishers in the 100m with Brooke Raglin's time of 11.73 leading the way. She finished just ahead of teammate Kiyah Yeast who ran 11.76 in her outdoor debut in the event.
• Yeast went on to win the 200m dash with a time of 23.92.
• Another trio of Cardinals swept the triple jump with Rachel Darden leading the way with a leap of 11.94m (39-02.25). Morgan Bentley placed second with a jump of 38-11.00 and Briana Washington was third at 11.49m (37-08.5).
• Raeli Howerton's personal-best throw of 39.10m (128.03) was good for first place in the javelin throw.
• Emma Bryant raced to a second place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2.12.05.
• Kambi Walker, competing in her first outdoor meet, cleared a height of 1.66m (5-5.25) to take third place in the high jump.

Louisville Men's Highlights
• The Cardinals swept the top three spots in the high jump with Trey Allen clearing a personal best of 2.17 (7-01.50) to take first place and Cayden Spencer-Thompson taking second at 2.03m (6-08.00) and Jonah Hyde finishing third at 2.03m (6-08.00).
• A trio of Cardinals were the top finishers in the long jump with Jeremiah Willis winning the event with a leap of 7.38m (24-02.50). Spencer-Thompson's mark of 7.26m (23-10.00) was good for second place while Justin Lehmkuhler finished third at 6.50m (21-04.00).
• Lehmkuhler was impressive in his outdoor 110m hurdles debut, taking home first place with a time of 15.06.
• Sterling Warner-Savage paced the 200m dash field, taking first place with a time of 2.157. Teammate Tkai Wade was right behind him, finishing second at 21.66.
• Louisville took first and second place in the 3000m run with Shadrack Kipkosgei clocking in at 8:27.39 to win the event and Ian Kibiwot's time of 8:29.02 good for second.
• Sean Roth's vault of 5.12m (16-09.5) set a school outdoor record as he finished second in the event. Teammate Zach Frye placed third with a vault of 4.77m (15-07.75).
• Cade Richeson finished second in the shot put with a mark of 17.78m (58-04.00). Jorge Contreras placed fourth with a throw of 55-01.50 in his first outdoor meet. Bryan Hudson registered a mark of 16.46m (54-00) mark in his outdoor debut. Sophomore Daniel Fiedler finished eight at 14.71m (48-03.25).
• Aaron Johnson posted a second place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 41.72m (136-10)
• Albert Kosgei finished third in the 1500m run with a time of 3:59.24.
