LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The University of Louisville men's golf team Is tied for 11th place after the first round of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday.

The Cardinals fired a 14-over-par 298 to sit 14 shots off the lead entering Tuesday's second round of action and are tied with TCU and Texas-Arlington.

Sunday was the highest-scoring round in the tournament's four-year history, as the average score checked in at 74.59. Fourteen of the 15 teams in the field were over-par. SMU, the leader after day one, was the only team that did not go over-par at the Trinity Forest Golf Club Sunday. No. 18 North Texas is in second place at +2, while Arkansas-Little Rock is in third place at +5 and Florida Atlantic is in fourth at +6.

SMU's Noah Goodwin is the individual leader after carding a season-best 67. He was the only player in the field to card a round in the 60s and one of three players shoot under-par on the day.

Senior John Murphy and junior Jiri Zuska paced the Cardinals after both players shot a 2-over-par 73 to sit in a tie for 21st. Murphy was 1-over on each side, scoring birdies on No. 5 and No. 12, while Zuska played the front nine at even-par, but shot 2-over on the last nine holes. He registered birdies at No. 2 and No. 8.

The Cardinals have two players who are currently tied for 52nd place after each carded a 5-over-par 76. Trevor Johnson raced out of the gate with three birdies on the first five holes, and added another on No. 9 to finish the front at 2-under-par. He stumbled on the back nine by shooting a 7-over-par 42.

Matthias Schmid, who played in the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour on Thursday and Friday, shot a 76 on Sunday to join Johnson in a tie for 52nd.

Freshman Max Kennedy is tied for 72nd after his round of 81.
The Cardinals return to action for the second of three rounds at Trinity Forest Golf Club on Monday. Louisville tees off starting at 10 a.m. (CST) on hole No. 10., with live scoring available on Golfstat.
