No. 13 Volleyball Downs Demon Deacons

Cards sweep 3-0
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- No. 13 ranked University of Louisville volleyball used .405 hitting to overpower visiting Wake Forest Saturday afternoon at the L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.

The Cardinals won 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 in a non-conference matchup with the Demon Deacons. Originally the Cards were slated to play Virginia Tech as part of a three-team ACC pod, but the Hokies were forced into COVID protocol with a positive test. Tomorrow's match with Wake will be considered the actual conference matchup. UofL improves to 6-2 overall and 6-2 in the ACC.

UofL hit .405 as a team adding four blocks and surviving 11 service errors. The Cards outpaced the Deacons in kills 45-25 as WFU had no answer for UofL's  high-octane offense. UofL was led by Claire Chaussee's 16 kills with the junior connecting for 16 kills on 21 swings for a .714 hitting percentage. She also added a pair of blocks. Aiko Jones had 10 kills, hitting .467 with an ace. Middle Anna Stevenson added 10 kills with an ace and two blocks.  Alexis Hamilton paced the defense with 10 digs and Tori Dilfer dished out 32 assists. Â

Wake hit .108 as a team with nine service errors and were led by Peyton Seuss' six kills as the Deacons fell to 0-7 on the season with the same tally in the league.

The two teams will clash again tomorrow, March 6 at 2 p.m. as ACC play continues at the L&N Arena.
