Cardinals Complete Day 1 of Racing at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational
March 13, 2021 | Rowing
Action resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday
University of Louisville rowing opened its 2021 championship season with racing Saturday at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue.
Â
After a layoff of more than 490 days, the Cardinals returned to race as they hosted the ninth ORCI. UofL's highlight in the afternoon session came when the V4+ powered to a second-place finish, beating No. 12-ranked Wisconsin.
"It is great seeing this event come together," said Derek Copeland, UofL head coach. "Our boats are consistently making improvements each time they get on the water. We know our speed now, and we look forward to weekly gains throughout the season."Â
Â
Competition for the field resumes tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET. The Cardinals launch V8+ at 10:44 against SMU and Michigan. The V4+ face SMU and Michigan at 10:52. The 2V8+ compete against SMU and Michigan at 11:00 and the 2V4+ race SMU and Tennessee at 11:08.
Â
Live results from all three sessions will be available on the Louisville team Twitter account (@UofLRowing) and HereNow.com, with daily recaps following on GoCards.com
