
No. 19 Cardinals Play at Central Michigan on Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 19 University of Louisville women's lacrosse travels to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for a matchup with Central Michigan on Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

Coming off a hard-fought loss at No. 8 Virginia, the Cardinals are 2-2 overall and 0-1 in ACC action. The Chippewas enter Friday's game 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in MAC play.

Louisville remains in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Top 25 poll for the third-straight week, coming in at No. 19. The Cardinals are also ranked 17th by IL Women and 18th by US Lacrosse Magazine.

Hannah Morris leads the Cardinals with 10 goals and ranks second on the team with 11 points. She has scored in all four games this season, including hat tricks against Cincinnati and Virginia, and ranks fourth in the ACC with 24 shots.

Named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, Caroline Blalock tops the Cardinals' lineup with six assists and 15 points. She also ranks second with nine goals and 12 draw controls after four games.

Goalkeeper Rachel Florek has tallied 48 saves over the Cardinals' last four contests, ranking first in the ACC and tied for ninth in the NCAA. Her .539 save percentage ranks fourth in the conference while her 12 saves per game leads the league and ranks seventh in the nation.

Florek also leads the team with 10 ground balls, while Megan Mangines paces the Cardinals with 13 draw controls.

The Chippewas concluded the shortened 2020 campaign with a 2-3 record and advanced to the SoCon semifinals in 2019. Natalie Karlen leads the team with 14 goals through the first five games of the season, followed by Audrey Whiteside with 12. Brennan Paddy paves the way with 14 draw controls, and goalkeeper Sierra Savage has recorded 21 ground balls and a .455 save percentage on 45 saves. The 2021 season marks the first year that the MAC will keep women's lacrosse standings and crown a champion, and the Chippewas are No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll. Head coach Sara Tisdale, who was named the first lacrosse coach in CMU history in 2014, enters her sixth year at the helm.
