Louisville Baseball Earns Second Top Five Preseason Ranking

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program earned its second top five ranking of the preseason, as the Cardinals sit fifth in D1Baseball's preseason poll released on Monday.
Florida sits atop the poll followed by UCLA, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and the Cardinals. Louisville is the highest ranked team from the ACC, which placed seven teams in the top 25.
Louisville has previously earned 2021 preseason rankings of second and 11th from Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball, respectively.
The Cardinals are coming off a 13-4 record during the shortened 2020 season that saw them begin the year as the top-ranked team in the country. Louisville finished the season ranked as high as No. 2.
Dan McDonnell begins his 15th season with the Cardinals, returning a large portion of his 2020 squad. Under McDonnell, the Cardinals have won more games than any program in the country since he was hired in 2007.
Preseason All-Americans Alex Binelas, Henry Davis, Michael Kirian, Jared Poland and Levi Usher headline a long list of returning players for the Cardinals in 2021.
