Q: What is your favorite pump-up song?
A: No Hands – Waka Flaka Flame!!!
Â
Q: What is your favorite pregame meal?
A: I love some of my mom's baked salmon and roasted broccoli. YUM!
Â
Q: Where is your favorite place you have competed?
A: The Cooper River in New Jersey. It's not nearly as fancy as Nathan Benderson in Sarasota, but I have so many good memories from SRAAs on the Cooper.
Â
Q: Excluding your sport, what is your favorite sport to watch?
A: Before coming to UofL it was swim because I used to swim so I understood it, but I love watching the men's basketball team now. I never used to watch sports on TV but now I can't not watch them.
Â
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Off the top of my head The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Â
Q: What is a hobby that you have that most people do not know you have?
A: I think a lot of people know I like to bake but I think it shocks people. I do like to make yarn bracelets and not many people know I'm pretty good at it.
Â
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: I guess I just kind of get away from everyone and get really quiet, but nothing that would ruin my race if I didn't do it.
Â
Q: Who is your hero/role model?
A: For a person in my life it would have to be my mom because she's one of the strongest, most independent, and hard-working women I've ever been around and she's raised me to be who I am today.
Â
Q: If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Roasted kale.
Â
Q: What is your favorite animal to see at the zoo?
A: Meerkats. They are so weird looking and I love them. Pandas are cute too
Â
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?
A: I hate when people just take things without asking. They know I'll say yes , but people, just give me the courtesy of asking.
Â
Q: If you could go against anyone one-on-one, who would it be?
A: I mean, I already sort of did it at the beginning of the year but Claudia. She's insane in all the best ways and she's such a strong competitor. Helps that she's a port too.
Â
Q: If you could see one artist in concert, who would it be?
A: The Weeknd. I've been to a lot of State Champs concerts so that would've been my first choice, but I have never seen The Weeknd.
Â
Q: What is your favorite song to sing karaoke to?
A: I will not karaoke.
Â
Q: What is one thing most people do not know about you?
A: I really love cooking for others and it's kind of my way of showing how I love people without doing all of the words and hugs thing.
Â
Q: Besides your own, what is one sport you wish you were really good at?
A: Track. I have never been good at running and I do not understand how some people run for so long at such fast speeds. I think it is so cool
Â
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
A: It's been Harry Styles since 2010.
Â
Q: What is your best memory/experience playing your sport?
A: SRAA Nationals my sophomore year. Our only goal was the make it to the next round, and short story we actually ended up getting second. The most memorable part of it was that I was 7 seat with Fran Raggi who at the time was incredible fast, she still is, and another girl who was 6-2 and also incredibly fast. I had no idea how we did what we did, but the best part is we knew we were all in it for each other. I can't actually describe the race besides thinking, "Fran's going, I've gotta go with her." Because she was our stroke seat. The next thing I remember is getting out of the boat and having a giant group hug with my boat and our coach.
Â
Q: Why did you choose Louisville?
A: I felt perfectly at home with the team and the area, everything just felt right. I also saw the perfect amount of craziness in my coach that I knew would help me get myself to the next level.
Â
Q: How do you know coming to Louisville was the right decision for you?Â
A: Every time I have doubts, something happens to change my mind and confirm that this was the right decision for me.
Â
Q: What is one thing our program has taught you?
A: Never assume anything and always have an open mind.
Â
Q: What do you miss most about being on campus?
A: I miss being able to put a sign outside of my dorm room in Bettie "Knock for cookies" I met a lot of people on the hall that way, as well as a couple of swimmers. I also miss being at Kroger and calling my friends and telling them I was coming over to cook for them.
Â
Q: What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
A: Watching way too much Grey's Anatomy and snuggling with my puppy. I'm making up for all of the puppy time I didn't get while in lou.
Â
Q: What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?
A: In a perfect world I would fly my friends to come live with me during this craziness, but otherwise I'm super content with everything I have with me. Pumpkin is here so that's pretty much all I can ask for.
Â
Q: How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
A: I'm trying to come back from being out from my concussion so I think once I get myself up to the full practice time it'll be a lot of training, but right now I'm trying to get my body back into shape and that includes learning to deal with how sore I am from training.
Â
Q: How have you and your teammates been keeping in contact?
A: I usually Snapchat and text with my friends from home every once in a while to check in. I kind of hate Facetime and talking on the phone so I don't do too much of that anyway.
Â
Q: What is your favorite pump-up song?
A: No Hands – Waka Flaka Flame!!!
