
Brenna Shanahan Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Diverse: Issues in Higher Education Magazine announced today that University of Louisville lacrosse redshirt senior Brenna Shanahan has been named a 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.
Shanahan was selected for the award above all Division I women's lacrosse student-athletes.
The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award recognizes outstanding minority young men and women who have distinguished themselves in their academic and athletic pursuits.
In addition to their athletic ability, students must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, be at least a sophomore academically, and be active on their campuses or in their communities.
Shanahan played in all nine games in the shortened 2020 season, finishing with four goals, nine assists, 13 points, 15 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and nine draw controls. She ranked ninth in the ACC with 1.3 caused turnovers, led the team and ranked 11th in the ACC with nine assists and ranked second on the team with 12 caused turnovers.
