
Cardinals Put All Five Starters on the All-Region Team

Matthias earned honors for the third-straight season.
NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Louisville men's golf team had five players selected to the PING All-Region East Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday.
The five selections were the most in the Midwest and tied for the most in the country with Wake Forest and Texas.
All five starters – Matthias Schmid, John Murphy, Keegan de Lange, Trevor Johnson, and Jiri Zuska were all selected to the All-Region squad.
A three-time honoree, Matthias Schmid is considered one of the top players in the country. The preseason All-American posted the second-best stroke average on the team at 69.91, which also ranked in the top 25 nationally. The native of Germany finished a season best second at the Bearcat Invitational and recorded five other finishes in the top five.
Murphy earned the selection for the second-straight season after posting his best campaign at Louisville. The Kinsale, Ireland native recorded his first two career wins, capturing the Bearcat Invitational and the Dorado Beach Invitational. Murphy posted the team's top stroke average at 69.59, with four other top-five finishes and three in the top 10.
A senior, Keegan de Lange is another two-time honoree. The native of South Africa appeared in eight events this year and netted a 71.32 stroke average. He played his best tournament last fall, finishing in a tie for second at the Hoakalei CC Invitational.
Trevor Johnson was playing the best golf of his career during his senior season. The senior from Brentwood, Tenn., recorded a 71.05 stroke average and posted two top-10 finishes, including a season best eighth at the Bearcat Invitational.
A sophomore from Kladno, Czech Republic, Juri Zuska was third on the team with a 71.05 stroke average and a pair of top-five endings. He tied for fifth at the Bank of Tennessee and the Dorado Beach Invitational.
