Each week we will be sitting down to get to know one of our Louisville rowing student-athlete. This week, we get to know Madison Meister. She is a junior from Kailua, Hawai'i and is a biology major. Each of the last two seasons she has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

What is your best memory/experience playing your sport?
Oak Ridge Training Trip 2020 – although it was an extremely emotional trip this year as COVID19 prevented us from competing and the NCAA ended up cancelling sports, the first four days were the best practices I've ever been a part of.

Why did you choose Louisville?
The team. The environment on our team and the support from the coaches and staff is unmatched. It is a special environment that you won't find anywhere else in the country.

How do you know coming to Louisville was the right decision for you?Â
Riding in the launch on my official visit, the first morning I arrived in Louisville and watched the sunset, I knew.

What is one thing our program has taught you?
Confidence. Resilience.
Â
What is your favorite thing about our team/program?Â
The team creates an atmosphere where you aren't afraid to fail. You know that every girl has your back and is pulling for you. The coaches support us in and out of practice and help us become unstoppable women by the time we graduate.

What are you doing with yourself during your free time?Â
Plenty of schoolwork, studying for the MCAT, and spending time with my sister who I don't usually get to see.

What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?
My teammates.

How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time?
Going on a run or walk every morning when I wake up. We are used to training at dawn every day and starting my day outside in the fresh air and getting my body moving in the mornings makes my day 10x better.

How have you and your teammates been keeping in contact?
Facetime, Group Snapchats and Instagram for sure!
