Louisville Welcomes Kennesaw State and Xavier for a Doubleheader Tuesday

Louisville, Ky. – After a tough loss at ACC foe Notre Dame, the University of Louisville men's tennis team will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The No. 47 ranked Cardinals (7-4, 2-1 ACC) will host a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. against Kennesaw State followed by a matchup against Xavier at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

- The Cardinals enter the weekend 7-4 and 2-1 in ACC play.
- Louisville is led in singles by junior Tin Chen, who carries a 20-6 overall record and is 5-3 at No. 1 in dual matches.Sophomore Sergio Hernandez follows with a 15-7 record and is 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. Hernandez and fellow sophomore Fabien Salle lead the Cardinals in doubles with an overall record of 13-3.
- Chen was named ACC Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week on January 21 after leading Louisville to a 4-3 upset of No. 10 Virginia. The junior clinched the match with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 win against No. 68 Gianni Ross at No. 1.
- Chen stands at No. 76 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings. In the fall, he became the first player in program history to capture the ITA/Ohio Valley Regional singles title.
- Head coach Rodrigo da Silva is in his first season at the helm at Louisville. He took over the program in September 2019 after spending four seasons as the head men's tennis coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He makes his return to UofL where he spent six years (2009-14) as an assistant coach, helping guide the Cardinals to three BIG EAST Conference tournament titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances.
