Louisville Women Take the Lead on Day Two of the ACC Indoor Championship

Three Cardinals take the podium on Friday
South Bend, Ind. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the second day at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships on Friday evening. After two days and six events scored, the Louisville women took the lead with 34.5 points. The Cardinal men finished the day in eighth place with 15 points.
Day two highlights included two new school records along with three Cardinals taking the podium. Louisville had six athletes earn second team All-ACC honors and two athletes advanced to the finals on Saturday.
Micah Oberhausen was the first to make the podium, finishing third in the heptathlon with a career best 5,103 points. Oberhausen earned first team All-ACC honors for the first time in his career. Clay Moss earned second team All-ACC honors after finishing sixth with a career best 4,773 points.
Kayla Alexander and Sterling Warner both set new school records, breaking their previous records from earlier this season. Alexander set the school record at 8.32 during the prelims of the women's 60m hurdles. She finished sixth and qualified for the finals on Saturday. Warner also set a new school record of 6.69 in the men's 60m dash prelims. He finished seventh and advanced to Saturday's finals.
Senior Alivia Ash led the Cardinals in the high jump with a third place finish. She matched her season best mark of 1.73m/5-8. Ash earned first team All-ACC honors for the second straight year.
Dorcas Wasike wrapped up the day earning a silver medal for the Cardinals in the women's 5000m run. The redshirt junior clocked a time of 16:17.75 to earn first team All-ACC honors in the event for the third straight year.
The final day of competition will continue tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the men's shot put, and men's triple jump. The 2020 ACC Indoor Championships will conclude at 3:50 p.m. with the women's 4x400m relay.
